Charles Armon Harbert Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who’s Who

Dr. Charles A. Harbert has been endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in the pharmaceutical industry

An accomplished listee, Charles Harbert celebrates many years’ experience in his professional network, and has been noted for scientific achievements, leadership qualities, and the successes he has accrued in his field. After accruing more than three decades of career experience, Dr. Harbert retired from his role as Vice President of U. S. Exploratory Development at Pfizer Central Research. Earlier in his career, he joined Stanford University as a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow. Subsequently, he transferred to Pfizer Central Research and over the years, he held numerous roles, including research scientist, project leader, manager, director, executive director, senior executive director, and vice president. He is co-inventor of the antidepressant drug Zoloft and was leader of the chemistry team that first synthesized it. Additionally, Dr. Harbert served as the chair of Medicinal Chemistry Gordon Research Conference, and co-chair of the Keystone Symposium.

A graduate of the University of Colorado and the University of Missouri, Dr. Harbert holds a Bachelor of Science and a PhD. In order to remain active within his professional circles, he affiliates himself with the American Chemical Society through which he won a Team Innovation Award in 2006 for his role in the discovery of Zoloft. In addition to Zoloft, Dr. Harbert holds patents for the conformational mapping of dopamine receptors antagonists.

Following retirement, Dr. Harbert began writing Colorado history books. He is the author of “Colorado History: Insights and Views Through Postcards” (2006), “Creede, Colorado History: Insights and Views Through Postcards” (2010) and “Bachelor Colorado: History of a San Juan Mining Ghost Town” (2017).

Beyond his personal accolades, he has been recognized many times for his professional accomplishments. Since 1996, Dr. Harbert has been featured in one volume of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, three volumes of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, and six volumes of Who’s Who in America.
