Patricia T. Hayes Celebrated by Marquis Who’s Who for Nearly Five Decades’ Practiced Industry Experience
Ms. Hayes composed the song “We’re Supporting You All the Way”
CHESAPEAKE, VA, January 2, 2017, Patricia Thornton Hayes has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Upon her commencement from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, Ms. Hayes embarked on a nearly 50-year-long career in music education that concluded with her retirement in 2005. Since the mid-1950s, she has held the role of music director for various schools in Virginia and West Virginia, including Meadowbrooke & Lakeview Elementary, Campostella Heights Elementary and Clendenin High School. Ms. Hayes has also served as a music specialist and teacher, as well as choral and orchestra director during her years in the field.
An alumna of numerous prestigious universities, Ms. Hayes holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in Education. In order to remain connected with changes in the field despite her retired position, she associates herself with the Virginia Education Association, the American String Teachers Association, the Virginia Parent Teacher Association and the Virginia Retired Teachers Association. Over the years, she has composed such songs as “We’re Supporting You All the Way,” and directed the choruses for the Seawall Festival, the Mayor’s Breakfast and the Manor High School Award Banquet. Additionally, Ms. Hayes has been celebrated for her work through the Fine Arts Commission in Chesapeake, Va. and the Portsmouth City School Board. She has also been featured in the 8th edition of Who’s Who in American Education and four volumes of Who’s Who of American Women.
